Information Exchange Type Usage Plans
(An information exchange place is provided to permit provision of the information by each member. How the information is acquired and used are according to the plan of each member.)

Theme:
  • Exchange of educational materials
    Members are under invitation (guidance is available from CEC).
    Outline: To exchange educational materials and information. Activities mainly conducted by teachers
  • Exchange of local information
    Outline: Theme is determined for each month for exchange of the information unique to each region, local news, difference in students' way of thinking.
    Activity status: To the project home page

  • Collaborative Study Type Usage Plans
    (A joint operation is carried out under cooperation by members and common theme.)

    Theme:
  • Nationwide market research
    Members are under invitation (guidance is available from CEC).
    Outline: Product types and prices are surveyed at various regions to analyze difference in product types and prices by region and season.
  • Database creation
    Members are under invitation (guidance is available from CEC).
    Outline: To jointly create a database on garbage collection methods throughout Japan.
  • Investigation on acid rain (Enlisting has completed.)
    Outline: The pH of rain water is measured at each region. Rain water samples are collected at certain intervals in the rain water quantity unit, which are delivered to a special organization for analyses. Obtained pH and analytical data are shared commonly.
    Activity status: Data input from each member schools is possible using the WWW. Reuse of registered data is also possible. Access: To the acidic rain home page
  • A Tree (Ecological botany research)
    Members are under invitation (guidance is available from CEC).
    Outline: Each member observes a tree in or near the school for comparison of difference by region.
    Activity status: Observation records are registered to the WWW.

  • Network Conference Style Usage Plans
    (Electronic conferences are held. Trials are made on real-time opinion exchange type and a conference space being open for several weeks for opinion exchange.)

    Theme:
  • Daily life events
    Outline: To exchange opinions on the network on subjects and events occurring during daily life. Different theme are set for elementary, junior high and senior high schools.
    Activity status: Access to the Events Arising during Daily Life home page
  • Opinion exchange with men of learning and experience
    Outline: To conduct video real-time conferences with personnel who cannot be met normally.
  • Network lecture
    Members are under invitation (guidance is available from CEC).
    Outline: Virtual lectures are held on the network for proposing or providing subjects for discussion. Questions and answ)Pconducted on the network as well as opinion exchange.

  • Special Education Type Joint Usage Plans
    (While handicapped children and students may participate to general theme positively, if possible, projects relative to handicapped personnel are planned.)

    Theme:
  • Effective use for special education
    Outline: Activities on theme having effective use of the Internet in the special education field are carried out, aiming at elimination of difference levels by handicap. It is planned not to limit to a specific handicap, but to the overall point of view.
  • Accessibility
    Outline: Theme for research and development on Internet accessibility by audio/visual and foot/arm handicapped persons are selected.


  • Network Contest
    Enlisting has already been completed.
    Outline: A contest is held using the virtual display space being composed on the network for creative products of children and students, which can be digitized. Two contests have been executed, one was the "Future of Our Town" of the theme genre and the "Geometric Park" of the special tool genre. (For the "Geometric Park," a software developed by IPA for creating the 3-dimensional figures was used.)

    "Real-time Video Talk"

    Real-time video talk was conducted between Tokyo (APIC Net Secretariat) and Australia, and Sidney University and Chofu Junior High School on September 13 (Wed.). Number of participants in the Australia was 5 to 6 students of Sidney University and 5 professors of that university and that in Japan was 20 students of the 3rd-grade elective class "Computer Communications" of Chofu Junior High School.
