Kagoshima Fisheries High is the only high school which is specialized in fishery in Kagoshima.
First established in 1910 and called Prefectural Marine and Fishery School, Kagoshima Fisheries High has cultivated its brilliant traditions as the educational facility for successors to the local fishery and related industries all through its some eighty years long history.
Our graduates, already exceeded 7000 in number, play active roles in all industries, including the fisheries industry, all over Japan as well as in the prefecture.
Our campus in Beppu, Makurazaki, is as huge as 170,000 square meters. On the campus, we have educational facilities for experiments and training, sports facilities for physical education, Japanese fencing, swimming, a boathouse for three training boats, and dormitories. Ours is the largest campus among those of all high schools in the prefecture. Our pass rate of national examinations of various kinds scores the top level among fisheries high schools nation wide. Not to mention about job starers, our graduates are admitted, several each, to national fisheries, technical and marine universities and private universities every year.
To go along with the progress of the scientific technologies, we have reorganized the courses swiftly, and thus are able to carry on reactivating the classes with steady steps.
"Be independent, responsible and creative" is our school motto, and simple and merry is our school tradition.
Kagoshima Fisheries High is a comprehensive fisheries high school with three courses. They are the marine course, with three sub-courses underneath it, the information communications course and the food engineering course. The school ranks as the top and leads fisheries education at high schools through out Japan.
Our gate is open to those students who are young and motivated and willing to cultivate their valuable lives.
