The contents of this page
The project is dedicated to investigating the potentials of advanced technologies in group learning, information exchange and network conferencing involving teachers and students. Research findings will be made public over the network for those interested.
The project provides a test site for experiments implementing network and multimedia technologies in education, with a particular focus on the following topics:
Inter-School Networking
- Creation of a model environment for network-based study and communication between about 100 elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide in order to implement each school's plans for improved information usage.
- Development of software for students to access libraries and schools around the world and disseminate information via network.
Educational Software Promotion based on advanced information technology
- Provision of advanced educational software and related database resources to encourage computer use by the genaral public and those teaching and studying in classrooms.
For Walk-In Visitors
- Visitor-use media editing facilities are open to the genaral public for developing educational software. An authoring environment for voice, still, and animated data is fully equipped with:
- Image editing equipment
- MPEG compression equipment
- Acoustic editing equipment
- Scanners/Printer
- High-end graphic workstations
Via Network
- WWW, FTP, mail and news servers enable an environment where learning and information exchange can be done over the network. In addition, information relating to domestic educational software can be searched and demo educational software can be obtained through Internet.
