Regular Projects in 1995
*Information Exchange Type*
Participants laid information at places prepared for information exchange on
subject matters. Which information to fetch and how to use were all
left to the participants.
-
teaching materials exchange
- Teaching materials to be incorporated into study courses were exchanged.
Most participants were teachers.
-
local information exchange project
- Monthly themes were set. And local specific treatments of the themes,
local news about the themes, and students' different attitudes towards the
themes were exchanged.
*Study in Collaborations Type*
Sharing objectives in common, participants acted in cooperation.
-
a nation wide market survey
- Lineups and prices of commodities on markets at places nation wide were
collected, and prices were compared and lineup differences by seasons and
by locations were analized to lead to the survey results.
-
data base construction
-
A data base, which covered local garbage collecting service systems in Japan,
was constructed jointly by the participants.
-
acid rain research
- PH of rain falls were measured. Samples were taken from every unit amount
of water since rain had started, and were sent to a testing facility
to be analized in detail. Participants shared the data and the analysis
results between them.
-
single trees (a survey on ecology of plants)
- Each participant picked up a tree nearby, and observed it regularly.
The observations from different locations were compared to examine how much
differences there could be.
*Network Conferences Type*
Electronic meetings were held in this project. During the meetings, information
and opinions were transmitted and exchanged real time.
In one case, a meeting space was made available to stage opinion exchange for
weeks.
-
problems close to ones' ordinary life
- Opinions on problems arising from ones' close environment were exchanged
over the networks. Different themes for elementary, junior high and senior
high schools were taken up.
-
opinion exchange with experts
- Real time meetings over networks using video for motion pictures were held.
Experts who were ordinarily outside of direct contact were present there.
-
lecture meetings on network
- Virtual lecture meetings were held on network to study problems, and to
explore topics of subject matters. Questions and answers sessions were also
held on network.
*Special Education Type*
It is best for special education school children to voluntarily join
activities of ordinary themes wherever possible. Even so, we still suggested
several programs concentrated on handicaps.
-
Internet use in special education
- Elimination of disparities rooted in handicaps was the objective of this
program. A theme which made use of the Internet in the special education field
was taken up. The program was carried out with a wide view which was not
limited to some specific types of handicaps.
-
accessibilities
- Surveys and researchs on Internet accessibilities
for those who are with vision or limb disabilities were carried out under this
theme.
*Network Contests Type*
Contests were held in a virtual exhibition space built on network. The
exhibits were students' digital works.
-
category 1
- A CG contest was held. The theme was "the future of our town".
-
category 2
- A three dimensional modeling contest was held.
A prerequisite was use of a software called "geometric park",
which had been developed in 1994 by IPA for use in designing three dimensional
figures.
-
awards
- The results of the contests can be found here.
